Baby Dedication

Join us at Indianola First on Sunday, September 8th during the morning service for our Baby Dedication ceremony. You might wonder about the difference between Infant Baptism and Baby Dedication and which practice we follow at Indianola First. We practice Baby Dedication because Scripture teaches that baptism is an expression of an individual's faith in Jesus for salvation and forgiveness, something a baby or young child is not yet able to comprehend. Baby Dedication, while not commanded in Scripture, was practiced as part of the family's faith, with examples like Hannah dedicating Samuel and Joseph and Mary presenting Jesus at the temple. A Baby Dedication is more about the parents committing to be the primary spiritual leaders, teaching God's word, modeling God's love, and raising their child in the church. Additionally, our congregation commits to supporting the parents, praying for the child's salvation, setting a godly example, and ensuring the church remains a place for learning about Jesus.
